XL American Bully · Central California

The ultimate bully.
The ultimate dog.

We are a family kennel building a new large style of XL bully: serious size, correct structure, and a temperament you can trust around kids, because our puppies are raised in the house with ours from day one. Foundation blood from Bossy Kennels.

Our program

Temperament above all.

We started Bully Bear to set a new standard: the size and presence of the biggest bullies, the structure and athleticism to carry it, and a family temperament ahead of everything else.

Every litter here is raised in our home, around our children. We call it our baby practice program. The puppies learn gentleness with small kids from their first weeks, and our kids learn to care for something that depends on them. By the time a puppy leaves for your family, living with people is all it has ever known.

We breed for a clean, correct look: bully proportion, a wide chest with a complementing rear, heavy bone and girth for good hips and joints, a large head, and a muzzle short enough for the look but never at the cost of breathing. Too much or too little of anything is not good. Our target adult weights are 80 to 110 pounds for females and 90 to 130 for males, big enough to turn heads, never so big the dog loses its athleticism.

We have been blessed with our standout foundation male, Maximus, and we thank Bossy Kennels for him. To us he is the epitome of the XL bully, and we are moving the line forward through him in every generation.

    Raised with our kids

Puppies are whelped and socialized in the house, not out in a kennel run. The baby practice program is the heart of everything we do.

  • 02

    A new large style

We are combining the best of every bully style into one large, correct dog. Our studs and dams vary in size on purpose. The goal is the blend.

  • 03

    Generational betterment

Every pairing has to move the line forward. Maximus set the standard, and each generation is bred to advance it.

Common questions

Before you reserve

How big do Bully Bear dogs get?

Our target adult weights are 80 to 110 pounds for females and 90 to 130 pounds for males. We hold that range on purpose. Too much or too little of anything is not good, and a dog that outgrows its own joints is not our idea of the ultimate bully.

What is the baby practice program?

Our puppies are raised in our home with our children from birth. The puppies learn to be gentle around small kids, and our kids learn to love and care for the dogs. It is the foundation of the temperament people notice in our adults.

What bloodlines are behind the program?

Our foundation male, Maximus, was produced by Bossy Kennels, and so was our female Gwen. The rest of the yard brings in MBK, Swags, Stormelit, and Misguided Bullies blood. Every dog's pedigree is listed right on its card above, and we are happy to talk through any of them.

Are your dogs safe around kids?

This is the reason the kennel exists. We breed for docile family love and loyalty first, and every puppy is raised around our own children from week one. The temperament you see in our adults is the temperament we breed back to.

Is stud service available?

Yes. Maximus and Titan are both open for stud service. Call or text us with your female's pedigree and we will talk fees and logistics.

How do reservations and deposits work?

The reservation list opens with each breeding. A deposit holds your place, and picks go in deposit order. All billing instructions are handled over email with us directly, so you always know exactly who you are dealing with.

Do you deliver?

Pickup and delivery are arranged case by case, and all delivery instructions are completed over email once you are on the list. Ask us about your situation when you inquire.
